From Ricky Gill for Congress:

STOCKTON, CA, September 18, 2012 – A leading political newsletter, the Rothenberg Political Report, has moved California’s 9th Congressional District into one of its “toss up” categories, another indication that the race between challenger Ricky Gill (R-Lodi) and incumbent Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) is highly competitive.

The Rothenberg Political Report recently noted, prior to announcing its new rating in the 9th District, that Gill’s “strong fundraising and unique story” were factors “propelling him in the competitive contest in the San Joaquin Valley.” The Reportpreviously had moved the district from “Democrat favored” to “lean Democrat” based on Gill’s strong primary election results.

Leading race handicapper RealClearPolitics also has concluded the 9th District is a “toss up,” and the California Target Book lists the 9th District as one of 10 “target” districts in the state.
