From Ricky Gill for Congress:

We all know that Jerry McNerney lied to voters about his residence.

Apparently unsatisfied, McNerney is now lying about Ricky’s.

In a fact-check article published today, the Stockton Record thoroughly examines the claims McNerney makes in his campaign advertising. McNerney is running TV ads — and the Democratic Party is sending mailers on his behalf — making absurd claims, including the unfounded allegation that Ricky still lives with his parents.

The Record’s conclusion? McNerney’s claims are “false.” (Some claims are even “false and confusing.”) The mailers go “beyond misrepresentation of facts.” The mailers even cite a nonexistent article that allegedly appeared in the Record on August 15th.

The Record describes McNerney’s claims as follows:

  • Gill still lives at home. False.
  • He receives an allowance from his parents. Also false.
  • Gill “was caught making up jobs.” False and confusing.
  • He’s a college kid. Also false.

Coming from the largest newspaper in the district, that’s a resounding indictment of the central themes of McNerney’s campaign. Even McNerney’s response to the fact-check — his campaign asserts that Ricky is “registered to vote at his parents’ address” — is false.

As Mark Twain said, “One of the most striking differences between a cat and a lie is that a cat has only nine lives.” Let’s hope McNerney’s lies are on their last legs.
