From Elizabeth Emken for U.S. Senate:

(ORANGE COUNTY, CA) – Elizabeth Emken, Republican challenger for U.S. Senate in California, today released the following statement regarding this morning’s employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“The latest unemployment figures are simply unacceptable, especially when growing numbers of people have simply given up trying to get a job, business owners are hesitant to commit to expanding and hiring, and our economy has become so sluggish that even a whisper of an economic turnaround gets a standing ovation. Nationally-known taxpayer advocacy group endorses Emken’s pro-growth tax policies

(ORANGE COUNTY, CA) – Republican U.S. Senate nominee Elizabeth Emken, an accomplished businesswoman specializing in efficiency and cost-cutting, and nationally recognized advocate for autism research and treatment, today announced that the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Political Action Committee has officially endorsed her campaign for U.S. Senate. From the L.A. Times:

As the parent of an autistic child, Elizabeth Emken is used to challenges. She discusses her latest, running against Sen. Dianne Feinstein, with Patt Morrison.

Like many parents of autistic children, Elizabeth Emken’s priorities changed when she heard her son’s diagnosis. But most parents do not wind up running for U.S. Senate. Emken’s 12.5% of the vote in the June primary makes her the GOP challenger to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein. She’s a UCLA graduate in economics and political science who worked at IBM before launching into more than a decade of lobbying for autism legislation. She’ll be in Tampa — home of the Buccaneers football team — for next week’s GOP convention. And while a football coach, as her father once was, might assess her chances against Feinstein as “fourth and very long,” like so many other parents of autistic kids, Emken is used to those odds.

Shows Concern Over Growing Iranian Threat

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Republican United States Senate candidate Elizabeth Emken today issued the following statement concerning the ongoing Iranian threat to Israel and America’s commitments in the region:

“The rise of the age of missiles has threatened the qualitative military edge of our ally Israel, and the Israeli government’s concern over Iran’s ongoing nuclear program is well justified. Iran continues to develop many of the elements and technologies for weapons of mass destruction and the systems needed to deliver them. (more…)

Grim Economic Numbers Continue to Show Democrats’ Policies Haven’t “Worked,” But Democrats Want Tax Hikes that Will Make Things Worse

Last week’s report on U.S. economic growth confirmed the economy is in the doldrums, struggling to regain momentum and create jobs—a far cry from President Obama’s claims that his policies “worked” and that “the private sector is doing fine”:

“ECONOMY WEAK IN SECOND QUARTER, GDP GROWS AT 1.5% RATE”: (Tim Mullaney, “Economy Weak in Second Quarter, GDP Grows at 1.5% Rate,” USA Today, 7/27/2012)

“UNEMPLOYMENT COULD STAY HIGH AS US ECONOMY SLOWS”: “High unemployment isn’t going away — not as long as the economy grows as slowly as it did in the April-June quarter.” (Martin Crutsinger, “Unemployment Could Stay High as US Economy Slows,” Associated Press, 7/27/2012) (more…)
